This is the first functionality assessment of Union Disaster Management Committees (UDMCs) undertaken in Bangladesh. Many agencies have given effort to enhance UDMC capacity to make them functional during the various phases of disaster management. We gratefully acknowledge the support of IDMVS of Dhaka University, Bangladesh in engaging a group of senior students from the Disaster Management Department. No doubt it was hard work for them to reach the remotest unions and organize sessions with UDMC members at short notice, to collect necessary data and information.
